LOWELL, Mass. — In a thrilling matchup on Monday evening, Max Brooks played a pivotal role in UMass-Lowell’s 81-74 triumph over Merrimack.
Brooks showcased his skills by contributing 20 points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks, helping the River Hawks improve their record to 5-2 for the season.
Yuri Covington also made an impact by scoring 14 points, shooting 40% from the field, alongside a perfect 4-for-4 performance from the free-throw line. Covington’s efforts included seven rebounds, further solidifying the team’s dominant performance.
Anthony Blunt supported the team’s offensive strategy with 13 points, connecting on 3 out of 7 attempts from the field, including hitting two out of three from beyond the arc. Blunt was effective at the charity stripe as well, sinking all five of his free-throw attempts.
On the other side, the Warriors (1-5) had Adam Clark leading their offense with 19 points, complemented by five assists and four steals. Devon Savage contributed another 11 points to the tally, while Malik Edmead rounded out the scoring with 10 points and four assists.
With this victory, UMass-Lowell continues to demonstrate their competitive edge early in the season, while Merrimack looks to bounce back in upcoming games.
