BOSTON — A notable auction featuring memorabilia from the iconic baseball player Ted Williams is set to take place, showcasing items that belonged to his daughter. Among the highlights is Williams’ Presidential Medal of Freedom, which was awarded to him by fellow WWII naval aviator George H.W. Bush. This prestigious medal is estimated to sell for between $25,000 and $50,000.

In addition to the medal, the auction features Williams’ 1946 American League Most Valuable Player Award and the silver baseball bat he received for winning the American League batting title in 1958. Both of these artifacts are anticipated to attract bids ranging from $150,000 to $300,000.

These cherished items were previously in the possession of Williams’ daughter, Claudia, who passed away in December. In 2012, a prior auction of memorabilia owned by Williams took place at Fenway Park and raised over $5 million, highlighting the enduring value and demand for pieces associated with the Hall of Famer.

Also up for bid is the “hitter.net” cap worn by Williams during a pregame ceremony at the 1999 All-Star Game in Boston. This event was particularly memorable as current players were so eager to meet the legendary ballplayer that they had to be reminded to allow him to leave the field to commence the game.
