BUFFALO, N.Y. — A recent lawsuit has brought accusations against Buffalo Bills first-round draft pick Maxwell Hairston, alleging that he committed sexual assault while attending the University of Kentucky in 2021. This legal action was initiated on Tuesday in a Kentucky federal court by a woman who asserts that Hairston entered her dorm room uninvited, disregarded her rejection of sexual advances, and forcefully assaulted her by removing her clothing. As per journalistic standards, the identity of alleged sexual assault victims is typically kept confidential.

Efforts have been made to reach Hairston’s representatives for comments on Wednesday, but no response has been reported. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills have remained silent on the matter, opting to rely instead on remarks previously made by the team’s general manager, Brandon Beane. Back in April during the draft, Beane addressed the situation by stating that the organization had thoroughly investigated the 2021 allegation against Hairston. He described Hairston as possessing an exemplary character, suggesting, “So that’s unfortunate when things like that are attached to someone’s name. And in this case, doesn’t seem to be anything there.”

Hairston, originally from West Bloomfield, Michigan, had a college football career at Kentucky spanning three seasons from 2022 to 2024 before being picked 30th overall in the NFL draft by the Bills this April. At 21 years old, Hairston is being considered for a potential starting position as a cornerback for the team in the upcoming season.

The Bills have been on break following their compulsory practice sessions concluded in mid-June. They are scheduled to reconvene later this month with the commencement of training camp.
