Isabeau Levito, world silver medallist, pulls out of Finlandia Trophy in figure skating

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Isabeau Levito, the world silver medalist, has officially withdrawn from the upcoming Finlandia Trophy, which was slated to be her second Grand Prix appearance for the season. This unexpected decision raises concerns about her future participation in competitions for the remainder of the figure skating season.

Currently, there hasn’t been any specific explanation provided for Levito’s withdrawal. Just weeks ago, she showcased her talent by winning the short program at Skate America but faced challenges during the free skate, ultimately finishing in third place, trailing behind Japan’s Wakaba Higuchi and Rinka Watanabe.

By opting out of the Finlandia Trophy, Levito removes herself from the running for the Grand Prix Final scheduled for December. There is a possibility that the 17-year-old, who is aspiring to compete in the Olympics, may not participate in any competitions until the national championships in January, set to take place in Wichita, Kansas.

In a related development, Loena Hendrickx from Belgium, who is the reigning European champion, has also chosen to withdraw from the Finlandia Trophy. Hendrickx had previously pulled out of last weekend’s Grand Prix de France, citing the necessity for further preparation.

The next competition in the Grand Prix series is the NHK Trophy, which is set to commence Friday night in Tokyo.
