Jayden Clerveaux had an impressive game, rushing 30 times for a total of 159 yards, as Holy Cross triumphed over Fordham with a score of 19-16 on Saturday. This victory marked Holy Cross’s eighth consecutive win in the matchup, allowing them to keep the Ram-Crusader Cup.

In what was coach Dan Curran’s first home victory since taking charge at Holy Cross, the team secured the lead for good with 6 minutes and 14 seconds left in the fourth quarter. The decisive offensive drive consisted of 13 plays spanning 75 yards and consumed over six minutes of game clock. Quarterback Joe Pesansky capped off the drive with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Petersen.

Both teams exchanged punts on their following possessions, giving Fordham an opportunity to attempt a last-minute comeback starting from their own 21-yard line with just 1 minute and 41 seconds remaining. After a minimal gain on the first play, a pass from Jack Capaldi was dropped by Cole Thornton. The subsequent two plays also failed to connect, leaving Fordham unable to convert and resulting in a turnover on downs.

For Holy Cross, Pesansky completed 14 out of 33 passes for 150 yards, throwing two touchdown passes to Petersen. On the other hand, Fordham’s Capaldi managed to throw for 199 yards. Notably, Bennett Henderson successfully kicked three field goals for Fordham, including a longest of 52 yards.
