JFK’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, has reacted fiercely to President Trump’s order to release the assassination files of his grandfather, John F. Kennedy, his great uncle, Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. On Thursday, Trump signed an executive order to declassify these long-secret files. Schlossberg, 32, quickly took to social media to slam the move, accusing Trump of using his late grandfather for political gain.

Schlossberg calls out Trump’s move

In a blunt tweet, Schlossberg wrote, “JFK conspiracy theories – the truth is a lot sadder than the myth – a tragedy that didn’t need to happen.” He dismissed the idea that the assassination was part of a grand plot, emphasizing the personal tragedy instead. “Declassification is using JFK as a political prop when he’s not here to punch back,” Schlossberg added. He also called the move “nothing heroic.”

The JFK assassination: conspiracy theories persist

The declassification decision follows years of rampant conspiracy theories surrounding JFK’s assassination. Kennedy was gunned down in Dallas in November 1963 by alleged shooter Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald was killed two days later by nightclub owner Jack Ruby, fueling suspicions that there was more to the story. The debate about a potential conspiracy continues to this day.

Trump’s executive order on the files

Trump’s executive order forces officials to release plans for the JFK files within 15 days. Plans for the Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. files must follow within 45 days. Critics say this could reopen painful wounds and stir up more conspiracy theories.

Schlossberg’s growing public profile

Schlossberg, the son of former US ambassador Caroline Kennedy, has become a public figure in recent years. He made waves as a political correspondent for Vogue and as a speaker at the Democratic National Convention. Known for his outspokenness, Schlossberg has also criticized his uncle, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., especially after Trump nominated him to be the country’s top health official.

Schlossberg’s remarks reflect his growing frustration with the way his family’s legacy is being used in modern politics. Many believe this latest move by Trump is just another political stunt—one that JFK and his family cannot defend themselves against.
