MANCHESTER, England — Ruben Amorim has expressed a harsh critique of his Manchester United team following their latest setback, acknowledging they might be the “worst” squad in the club’s long history.
On Sunday, United suffered their 10th defeat in the Premier League this season, falling 3-1 to Brighton at Old Trafford. “We are possibly becoming the worst in the history of Manchester United,” Amorim stated. “This is something we need to recognize and amend.”
The 20-time English champions are currently positioned 13th in the league standings, sitting perilously close to the relegation zone rather than competing for a spot in the Champions League.
Since taking over from former manager Erik ten Hag in November, Amorim has overseen a challenging tenure, recording seven losses in 15 matches. According to statistics from the Premier League, the team has experienced six defeats out of their first 12 home league games this season, marking their worst performance since the 1893-94 season.
