Duchess Meghan of Sussex makes her Instagram comeback with a New Year’s clip

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is kicking off the new year by launching her first Instagram account since 2020.
Confirmation was received regarding the official handle @meghan, belonging to the Duchess herself. Her inaugural post features a monochrome video of her at the beach, dressed in white, where she is seen etching the numbers “2025” into the sand on a cloudy day. The account has swiftly gained over 200,000 followers.

Since marrying Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, in 2018, Meghan and Harry were part of the @KensingtonRoyal account, which also included Harry’s brother, Prince William, and his spouse, Kate, the Princess of Wales. However, a year later, Meghan and Harry decided to create their own account, @SussexRoyal, symbolizing their increasing separation from the royal family. This account came to an end in 2020 when Meghan and Harry announced their intention to step back from their official royal duties.

Prior to her royal life, Meghan had a widely followed Instagram platform during her time on the television show “Suits.” She had previously hinted at a return to the platform, sharing a secret during a 2022 interview with The Cut by New York Magazine: “Do you want to know a secret? I’m getting back … on Instagram.”

Despite her enthusiasm, Meghan has also expressed hesitations about re-engaging with Instagram due to concerns about potential harassment. In 2023, she and Harry pushed for social media companies to enhance their content-moderation practices, emphasizing that certain platforms can negatively affect the mental health of younger users.
