Partial Restoration of French Train Networks Following Sabotage Before Olympics

0

French railway company SNCF reported on Saturday that they have been able to partially restore high-speed train services following acts of sabotage that disrupted three major lines leading up to the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris on the Seine River. SNCF mentioned that their agents worked tirelessly through adverse weather conditions to improve TGV traffic from the north, east, and west to Paris. By Saturday morning, normal service had resumed on the Eastern high-speed line. However, SNCF noted that on the North, Brittany, and South-West high-speed lines, around seven out of 10 trains will run with delays ranging from one to two hours.

Despite the ongoing disruptions, SNCF assured that transportation for Olympic teams and accredited personnel will continue as planned. The company also stated that they are actively reaching out to customers via text message and email to confirm the status of their trains. SNCF also indicated that train services on the North axis will still face disruptions on Sunday, but conditions are anticipated to improve on the Atlantic axis for weekend returns.

The sabotage incidents have sparked security concerns in light of Paris hosting the Olympics. French authorities have initiated an investigation into the incidents; however, as of now, no suspects have been identified or apprehended.
