FORT WAYNE, Ind. — In a solid performance on Friday night, Rasheed Bello propelled Purdue Fort Wayne to an 80-66 victory over Oakland, contributing 19 points along with eight assists for the Mastodons, who improved their record to 19-10 overall and 12-6 in the Horizon League.
Jalen Jackson also made a notable contribution, scoring 14 points despite some challenges in his shooting, ending the night with a 4-for-13 shooting performance, including only one successful shot from beyond the arc out of seven attempts. His free-throw shooting was more reliable, hitting 5 of 6 attempts. Corey Hadnot II added 11 points, showcasing his shooting accuracy with 4 of 7 from the field, including 3 of 5 from three-point territory.
On the other side, the Golden Grizzlies were led by Tuburu Niavalurua, who recorded an impressive 23 points to go along with seven rebounds and two steals. Allen David Mukeba Jr. also made a significant impact, contributing 21 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and recording three steals and two blocks. D.Q. Cole rounded out the scoring with seven points and two steals.
After the game, Oakland coach Greg Kampe is just one win shy of achieving the record for the most conference victories in Horizon League history.
Purdue Fort Wayne will look to continue their momentum with an upcoming home match against Northern Kentucky on Thursday, while Oakland prepares to host Cleveland State this Sunday.
