Sacred Heart edges Merrimack with a 60-59 victory

Anquan Hill played a pivotal role in leading Sacred Heart to a close victory against Merrimack, finishing the game with 17 points in a tight matchup that ended 60-59 on Friday evening.

Hill also demonstrated his versatility by grabbing 10 rebounds for the Pioneers, who now hold a record of 12-14 overall and 8-7 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Tanner Thomas contributed significantly as well, scoring 12 points from 6 of 11 shooting while also pulling down seven rebounds. Additionally, Bryce Johnson added 10 points to the scoreboard, making 3 of 7 attempts from the field and converting 4 out of 5 free throw attempts.

On the opposing side, the Warriors, who are now 14-13 overall and 11-5 in conference play, were led by Adam Clark. He notched a strong performance with 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Matt Becht was also effective, contributing 11 points, while Sean Trumper added eight points along with four steals, playing a key role in the team’s defensive effort.

Both teams are set to return to the court for their next games on Sunday. Sacred Heart will head to Saint Peter’s for their match, and Merrimack will travel to face off against Iona.
