Anthony Selden played a pivotal role in Gardner-Webb’s narrow victory over Longwood, finishing the game with 27 points, leading the Runnin’ Bulldogs to a 92-87 win on Wednesday night.
Selden also contributed seven rebounds to the team’s effort, helping Gardner-Webb improve its season record to 9-12, with a conference mark of 4-4 in the Big South. Darryl Simmons II supported the team with an impressive 19 points while grabbing five rebounds. Additionally, Pharell Boyogueno scored 15 points, shooting 4 for 8 overall, including 1 for 5 from beyond the arc, and made all six of his attempts from the free-throw line.
The Lancers were led by Kyrell Luc, who put in a strong performance with 25 points, alongside six assists and four steals. Michael Christmas also made a notable contribution, adding 19 points to the total. Johan Nziemi rounded out the scoring for Longwood with 13 points and recorded two blocks during the game, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win, and their record stands at 16-7 with a conference record of 5-3.
Looking ahead, both Gardner-Webb and Longwood will return to the court on Saturday. Gardner-Webb will travel to face Winthrop, while Longwood will be on the road to take on Charleston Southern.
