Brunson records 30 points and 15 assists in Knicks’ 122-112 victory over struggling Nuggets, marking their fifth consecutive win.

Jalen Brunson showcased an impressive performance with 30 points and 15 assists, while OG Anunoby added 23 points, leading the New York Knicks to a 122-112 victory against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday evening. This win marks the fifth consecutive victory for the Knicks, highlighting their current strong form.

Karl-Anthony Towns contributed significantly as well, recording 14 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. The Knicks benefited early on from Nikola Jokic’s foul troubles, which set the stage for a strong start. They capitalized on a late-game surge to secure the win definitively.

For the Nuggets, Jamal Murray was the standout performer, scoring 33 points, but the team now finds itself with an 0-3 record on their five-game road trip. Jokic managed to finish the game with 17 points, six rebounds, and six assists, while Russell Westbrook provided support with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Jokic encountered fouls early on, picking up two in the first 1.5 minutes, and he was benched shortly after. This early setback allowed the Knicks to embark on a 15-0 scoring run, establishing an 18-6 lead. Jokic did not return to the game until there were 7:14 left in the first half, and despite being the NBA leader with 21 triple-doubles, he did not register double-digit numbers in any statistical category until the fourth quarter.

The Nuggets’ defense has been a pressing concern, as they have allowed an alarming 133, 129, and now 122 points in the first three games of the trip, making it difficult for them to secure wins on the road. Conversely, the Knicks have reached the 140-point mark in consecutive games for the first time since the 1965-66 season, showcasing their offensive capabilities. While they weren’t as high-scoring on Wednesday, with 122 points and nearly 52% shooting, they remain competitive enough to win many matches.

A pivotal moment in the game occurred when Jokic and Aaron Gordon hit back-to-back three-pointers, narrowing the gap to four points with approximately 5.5 minutes remaining. However, the Knicks quickly responded, scoring eight of the next ten points to regain a double-digit lead.

New York’s fast-paced style of play was evident, as they finished the game with a remarkable 25 fast-break points and 23 points off turnovers. Looking ahead, the Nuggets will travel to Philadelphia for their next game on Friday night, while the Knicks will host the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night.
