MILWAUKEE — Themus Fulks delivered a standout performance with 23 points as Milwaukee triumphed over Akron with a score of 100-81 on Sunday.
Fulks not only impressed with his scoring but also contributed significantly in other areas, adding five rebounds and providing seven assists for the Panthers, who now hold a record of 8-4 and are 2-0 in the Horizon League. Kentrell Pullian also made a strong impact, finishing with 19 points while hitting 7 of 13 field goals, including 2 of 5 from beyond the arc. He complemented his offensive output with six rebounds and five steals. Jamichael Stillwell chipped in 17 points, demonstrating efficiency as he shot 5 of 9 from the field and converted 5 of 7 from the free-throw line.
The Zips, currently at 6-3, saw Tavari Johnson leading their efforts with 22 points and contributing two steals. Nate Johnson was another key player for Akron, recording 19 points along with six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Sharron Young added 11 points and three steals to the team’s tally. This defeat marked the end of a five-game winning streak for the Zips.
Milwaukee took command of the game early, seizing the lead with 16:39 left in the first half and maintaining it throughout. They finished the first half with a solid 58-45 advantage, thanks in part to 14 points scored by Erik Pratt. Fulks continued his scoring prowess in the second half, contributing another 16 points and helping secure the victory by outscoring Akron by six in the last period.
Looking ahead, Milwaukee is set to face off against North Central (IL) at home next Sunday, while Akron will be matching up against Yale on Friday.
