BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Derrick Butler was instrumental in Bowling Green’s victory over Morgan State, scoring an impressive 35 points as the Falcons triumphed with a score of 102-81 on Saturday.
In addition to his scoring, Butler also contributed six rebounds, helping his team to improve to 4-5 for the season. Trey Thomas played an effective game as well, registering 16 points while making 6 of his 10 attempts from the floor, which included sinking four out of six shots from three-point range. Javontae Campbell finished with 13 points, shooting an impressive 6 of 8 from the field.
On the other side, Morgan State’s leading scorer was Will Thomas, who netted 19 points. Kameron Hobbs added a solid contribution with 12 points, while Ahmarie Simpkins chipped in with 11 points.
The turning point in the matchup occurred around 14:52 remaining in the first half when Bowling Green claimed the lead for good. By halftime, the Falcons were comfortably ahead, 55-37, with Butler showcasing his skills by accumulating 22 points before the break. In the second half, Bowling Green continued to dominate, even extending their lead to 63-39, thanks in part to an 8-0 scoring stretch. Trey Thomas led the charge in the latter half with 16 points, guiding the team to a decisive finish.
