Jon Hamm, the acclaimed actor known for his iconic role as Don Draper in the AMC series “Mad Men,” is set to be honored as the 2025 Man of the Year by the esteemed Hasty Pudding Theatricals at Harvard University during a ceremony this Friday evening.
Founded in 1844, Hasty Pudding Theatricals proudly holds the title of being one of the oldest theatrical organizations in the world still in operation. During the event, Hamm will be presented with the prestigious Pudding Pot award, followed by a celebratory roast in his honor. Later, he will enjoy a performance of the group’s latest production, titled “101 Damnations.”
Producer Willow Woodward expressed hopes for a light-hearted roast, quipping about Hamm’s recent dramatic experiences in the 2024 series “Landman.” “Let’s hope our roast doesn’t give him any heart palpitations — he’s had enough drama with that,” she stated, while also commending Hamm’s determined work ethic. Woodward feels confident that Hamm will tackle the stage alongside the same tenacity he has displayed throughout his remarkable career.
Hasty Pudding Theatricals honors individuals who have made substantial and memorable impacts in the entertainment industry. Hamm, while celebrated predominantly for his role in “Mad Men,” boasts an impressive portfolio, including nominations for the Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance as Sheriff Roy Tillman in FX’s “Fargo.” He has also appeared in numerous films like “Bad Times at the El Royale” and hosted “Saturday Night Live” multiple times.
Past recipients of the Man of the Year title include Barry Keoghan in the previous year, Bob Odenkirk in 2023, and Jason Bateman in 2022. Additionally, Cynthia Erivo, known for her work in “Wicked,” has been announced as the Woman of the Year, with her award presentation scheduled for February 6.
