LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In a strong performance, Dallion Johnson scored 26 points, leading Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) to a convincing 77-61 victory over Bellarmine on Thursday evening.
Johnson was impressive, shooting 9 out of 16 from the field, with a remarkable 8 for 14 from three-point range, contributing significantly to the Eagles’ success. His teammates supported him well, with Zavian McLean adding 16 points, having made 6 of 8 shots, including 2 of 3 from beyond the arc, along with a couple of successful free throws. Michael Duax also had a solid outing, scoring 12 points with a shooting percentage of 50% from the floor.
For the Knights, who fell to a disappointing record of 3-17 and are still searching for their first conference win at 0-7, Billy Smith led the team with 16 points. Jack Karasinski chipped in with 12 points, while Curt Hopf contributed 11 points to the team’s efforts. Unfortunately for Bellarmine, this loss marked the continuation of their struggle, extending their losing streak to ten consecutive games.
As both teams look ahead, they will be back in action on Saturday. FGCU will travel to Eastern Kentucky, while Bellarmine is set to host Stetson at their home court.
