LAKE CHARLES, La. — In an exciting matchup on Saturday night, Javohn Garcia led the McNeese Cowboys to an 80-71 victory over Nicholls State, contributing 25 points to the team’s success.

Garcia displayed an impressive shooting performance, going 6 of 12 from the field and hitting 12 out of 13 free throws, which played a key role in the Cowboys’ ongoing momentum as they improved their record to 11-5 and maintained a perfect 5-0 in the Southland Conference.

Alongside Garcia, Quadir Copeland added 14 points to the score, shooting 5 of 14 from the field and successfully sinking 3 of 4 free throws. T’Johnn Brown also made notable contributions, finishing with 10 points from 4 of 5 shooting and converting 2 of 4 free-throw attempts. This win for McNeese marked the team’s sixth consecutive victory.

For the Colonels, Robert Brown III was the standout player, scoring 16 points. Additionally, Byron Ireland contributed 14 points along with two steals, while Jamal West also finished with 14 points to add to the effort for Nicholls State, which now stands at 9-7 with a 3-2 conference record.
