ATLANTA — In an impressive display, Duncan Powell and Javian McCollum each achieved a season-high of 21 points, contributing significantly to Georgia Tech’s 86-75 win over Notre Dame on Tuesday night.

The Yellow Jackets demonstrated their offensive prowess, shooting 61% from the field in the first half, which allowed them to take a commanding 43-24 lead. Conversely, Notre Dame struggled offensively, making only 9 of 32 attempts, resulting in their lowest first-half score against Georgia Tech this season.

While the Fighting Irish mounted a rally with runs of 11-0 and 11-3 in the second half, they managed to pull within three points at 69-66 with just under six minutes remaining. However, that would be the closest they would come, as Georgia Tech maintained control until the final buzzer.

This victory marked only the third time in the past 13 matchups that Georgia Tech has triumphed over Notre Dame, having lost all previous encounters in the last season.

In addition to Powell and McCollum’s performances, Lance Terry added 14 points, Naithan George contributed 11 points, and Baye Ndongo finished with 10 for Georgia Tech, who holds a record of 7-7 and 1-2 in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets showcased their depth with a significant 44-15 disadvantage in bench scoring.

For Notre Dame, Tae Davis led the way with 27 points and seven rebounds. Matt Allocco supported the effort with 15 points and seven assists, while Braeden Shrewsberry sank four 3-pointers, totaling 12 points. The Fighting Irish only held a brief lead at 12-11 early in the first half.

Georgia Tech will conclude its five-game homestand on Saturday with a matchup against Boston College, whereas Notre Dame is set to face North Carolina the same day.
