DES MOINES, Iowa — In an exciting matchup, Bennett Stirtz played a pivotal role by scoring 25 points, leading the Drake Bulldogs to a narrow 63-61 victory over FGCU on Saturday.
As the game wound down, Daniel Abreu hit a crucial 3-pointer with just 24 seconds left, helping to solidify the win for Drake.
Stirtz contributed significantly beyond his scoring, posting seven rebounds and three steals, showcasing his all-around performance for the Bulldogs (now 3-0).
Abreu also had an impressive game, finishing with 17 points thanks to his shooting prowess, connecting on 5 of 10 attempts, with 4 of those coming from beyond the arc, and making all three of his free-throw attempts.
Nate Ferguson added depth to the offensive efforts, scoring 10 points with a perfect shooting record of 4 for 4 from the field and managing to make 2 out of 4 from the free-throw line.
On the opposing side, Zavian McLean topped the scoring for the Eagles (who fell to 0-4) with 17 points and accumulated three steals.
