MOUNT OLIVET, Ky. — A woman from Kentucky has been charged with murder following the discovery of her mother’s dismembered body in her yard, as announced by authorities on Monday.

Law enforcement officials responded to a residence in Mount Olivet, located in northern Kentucky, last Wednesday, where they uncovered the remains of the victim both inside and outside the home. Subsequently, they obtained a search warrant and apprehended 32-year-old Torilena Fields. In addition to the murder charge, charges for abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and obstruction were also filed against her.

On Monday, a grand jury in Robertson County formally indicted Fields, alleging that she shot her mother, Trudy Fields, in the head and then stabbed her multiple times before dismembering her body. The indictment also includes a charge for killing a dog.

A judge established Fields’ bail at $1.5 million during the court proceedings on the same day. Since she has yet to secure legal representation, the judge ordered that a public defender be appointed to her case, according to local reports.

The indictment specifies that Trudy Fields was murdered between October 8 and 9. Reports indicate that Torilena Fields initially refused to exit her home after police made the grisly discovery of her mother’s remains, which were located in the backyard next to a bloodstained mattress. Officers had to enlist a specialized response team, utilizing gas to encourage her to leave the residence while communicating with her through a robot. After several tense hours, she emerged from the building with blood visible on her face, hands, and clothing, as detailed in an arrest citation.

During the search, investigators located a metal pot in the oven that contained burned human remains, which were later identified as those of Trudy Fields, according to the indictment.
