ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Jackson Sivills was instrumental in leading Wofford to a 72-60 victory over East Tennessee State in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament on Saturday. Sivills contributed significantly with 17 points, playing a crucial role in the team’s advancement to the semifinals.
As the sixth seed, Wofford is set to face the seventh seed, VMI, in the upcoming semifinal match scheduled for Sunday. Sivills also showcased his all-around abilities by grabbing six rebounds, enhancing the Terriers’ performance overall.
In addition to Sivills’ contributions, Kyler Filewich added 13 points, shooting an efficient 6 of 9 from the field despite hitting only 1 of 5 from the free-throw line. His performance was bolstered by securing 10 rebounds, demonstrating his presence on the boards. Meanwhile, Corey Tripp contributed 10 points by making two of his eight field-goal attempts, including two out of five from beyond the arc, and was effective from the free-throw line with four successful attempts out of six.
The Buccaneers, who were the third seed with a record of 19-13, had a strong performance from Quimari Peterson. He led East Tennessee State by scoring 22 points, alongside four assists and three steals. Karon Boyd also chipped in with 12 points, while Maki Johnson contributed eight to their total score, showcasing a well-rounded effort despite the loss.
