GREENVILLE, S.C. — LSU’s prominent player, Aneesah Morrow, had to be assisted off the court after twisting her left ankle during the third quarter of the Southeastern Conference semifinal match against the top-seeded Texas on Saturday.

Morrow was making her way to the basket when she inadvertently stepped on the foot of Texas forward Taylor Jones, which caused her to fall to the ground. She lay on the court for several minutes before athletic staff members helped her off.

She was unable to apply any weight to her injured foot.

Previously, the ninth-ranked Tigers had suffered another setback with their top scorer, Flau’Jae Johnson, who is missing the tournament due to a shin injury as she prepares for the NCAA Tournament.

Morrow delivered a record-setting performance for LSU in their SEC Tournament match against Florida, scoring 36 points during their 101-87 victory on Friday. She has an impressive average of 18.7 points and 14 rebounds per game this season for the Tigers (28-4), who came into the tournament as the No. 3 seed with hopes of clinching the national championship.

The winner of the game between LSU and Texas will advance to face the two-time defending champion and fifth-ranked South Carolina in the championship game.
