Sivills leads Wofford to victory over ETSU, 72-60

    ASHEVILLE, N.C. — In a decisive outing during the Southern Conference Tournament quarterfinals, Wofford emerged victorious against East Tennessee State with a 72-60 win. Leading the charge for the Terriers was Jackson Sivills, who contributed 17 points, along with six rebounds, to secure their victory.

    The sixth-seeded Wofford team, with a record of 17-15, is set to advance to the semifinals, where they will face seventh-seeded VMI. Adding to Wofford’s offensive efforts, Kyler Filewich made a significant impact by scoring 13 points, shooting 6 of 9 from the field, although he faced challenges at the free-throw line, making only 1 of 5 attempts. Filewich also dominated the boards with 10 rebounds. Corey Tripp chipped in 10 points by shooting 2 of 8, including two successful 3-point attempts, and was 4 for 6 from the free-throw line.

    Despite their third seed and a commendable record of 19-13, East Tennessee State couldn’t overcome Wofford’s tenacity. The Buccaneers were spearheaded by Quimari Peterson, who achieved a noteworthy performance with 22 points, four assists, and three steals. Karon Boyd also contributed 12 points, while Maki Johnson added eight points to the Buccaneers’ effort.

    Wofford’s victory ensures their continuation in the tournament as they look forward to the upcoming semifinal match.
