BURLINGTON, Vt. — TJ Hurley’s performance, scoring 18 points, propelled second-seeded Vermont to a 64-57 win against seventh-seeded New Hampshire in the America East Conference quarterfinals on Saturday.
With this victory, Vermont (21-11) advances to the semifinals, where they will face the winner between Bryant and UMBC on Tuesday.
Hurley had an impressive shooting display, making 8 of his 14 attempts, including 2 of 6 from the three-point range for the Catamounts. Ileri Ayo-Faleye also contributed significantly with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. Nick Fiorillo delivered 10 points, thanks to his precision, shooting 3 for 6 from behind the arc. This win marks the ninth consecutive victory for Vermont.
New Hampshire (8-24) was led by Khalil Badru, who notched up 18 points and recorded two steals. Sami Pissis added a commendable 15 points for the Wildcats, while Davide Poser chipped in with 11 points and a couple of steals.
During the first half, Ayo-Faleye scored four points, and Vermont found themselves trailing 34-26 at halftime. Hurley was pivotal in the second half, scoring 14 points to guide the Catamounts to victory.
