WASHINGTON — Niels Lane propelled Delaware to a commanding 79-62 victory over Campbell in the second round of the Coastal Athletic Association Tournament on Saturday. With this win, the Blue Hens will move forward to face fourth-seeded William & Mary in the quarterfinals scheduled for Sunday.
Demonstrating exceptional accuracy, Lane scored 24 points, making 11 of his 15 attempted shots from the field for the Fightin’ Blue Hens, who have improved to 14-19 this season. Erik Timko contributed significantly to the team’s success by posting 19 points, with a 7 of 12 shooting performance, including 3 of 6 from beyond the arc, and securing 12 rebounds. John Camden also had a solid outing, achieving 15 points after hitting 6 of his 16 shots, including one triple, and making 2 of 4 free throws. This triumph was a significant one for the Fightin’ Blue Hens as it broke their challenging five-game losing streak.
On the opposing side, the Fighting Camels were led by Tasos Cook, who managed to net 19 points. Colby Duggan added to the team’s efforts with 12 points, while Cameron Gregory tallied 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds, contributing to their overall performance.
Delaware ended the first half with a slight edge, leading 36-30. John Camden was the standout performer in the opening half with 11 points.
