VCU Secures Atlantic 10 Title by Defeating Duquesne 71-62

    PITTSBURGH — In a decisive victory over Duquesne on Tuesday, VCU continued its impressive streak by winning its ninth consecutive game, with a score of 71-62. This victory also secured them at least a share of the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season championship.

    Max Shulga was instrumental for the Rams, contributing 22 points and making three steals, helping elevate the team’s record to 25-5 overall and 15-2 in the conference. His teammate, Zeb Jackson, added to the scoreboard with 16 points, shooting 5-for-12 overall, including hitting 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, and was perfect from the free-throw line. Joe Bamisile contributed 12 points, going 5-for-10 from the field, while Jack Clark was dominant on the boards with 14 rebounds.

    On the opposing side, Duquesne (13-17, 8-9) was led by Maximus Edwards, who scored 20 points. Eli Wilborn supported with 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, and Tre Dinkins offered a well-rounded performance with 10 points and five assists.

    VCU took control of the game with 8:11 remaining in the first half and maintained their lead throughout. By halftime, they led 37-29, propelled by Shulga’s impressive 15 points in just the first period. The Rams extended their lead with a 7-0 run in the second half, reaching a 12-point advantage at 59-47 with just over five minutes to go, effectively securing the win.

    Looking ahead, VCU is set to face Dayton at home on Friday. Meanwhile, Duquesne prepares for a visit to Saint Louis on Saturday.
