Winning seven out of their last nine games and maintaining a six-game home winning streak, the Yellow Jackets have secured at least an eighth seed in the upcoming conference tournament. This guarantees them a first-round bye, a notable achievement as it is the first time since the 2016-17 season that they have hit the 14-win mark.
On the other hand, the Miami team continued its road struggle, remaining winless with a disappointing 6-24 season record and 2-17 in conference play. Their current losing streak extends to six games.
Terry showcased his talent by sinking 12 of his 19 shots, adding seven rebounds and providing four assists. Key contributions also came from Baye Ndongo, who notched 22 points while shooting an impressive 10 of 15, along with securing eight rebounds. Georgia Tech shot remarkably well, at 61% in the second half and 55% overall, facilitating their control of the game. Duncan Powell also chipped in 16 points, while Naithan George was instrumental with 10 points and 11 assists.
For Miami, Matthew Cleveland stood out as a significant player, scoring 29 points, marking his 13th game this season with over 20 points. Brandon Johnson was noteworthy as well, contributing 16 points and collecting 10 rebounds, while Austin Swartz added 14 points to Miami’s efforts.
Georgia Tech established their dominance about eight minutes into the game and solidified their position with a 14-5 run, closing the first half with a 46-30 lead.
