The Pittsburgh Pirates have reached an agreement with experienced left-handed pitcher Andrew Heaney on a one-year contract.
The deal, valued at $5.25 million, is contingent upon Heaney successfully passing a physical examination.

At 33 years old, Heaney has had a noteworthy career spanning 11 seasons, predominantly with the Los Angeles Angels.
Throughout his career, he has achieved a record of 51 wins and 62 losses, alongside a 4.45 earned run average (ERA).
Over the past two seasons, Heaney played for the Texas Rangers, where he reached a personal milestone by securing a career-high of 10 victories in 2023, contributing to the team’s triumph in their first World Series.
In 2024, he recorded a 5-14 win-loss record while maintaining a 4.28 ERA over the course of 32 games.

The Pirates were actively seeking a seasoned pitcher, specifically a left-hander, to bolster their starting rotation, which has been largely composed of right-handed pitchers.
The rotation is currently led by Paul Skenes, who was named the National League Rookie of the Year.
Heaney is notably one of the select few left-handed starters who have managed to pitch at least 145 innings in each of the last two seasons.
