OMAHA, Neb. — In an intense matchup Wednesday night, Morgan Maly contributed significantly to Creighton’s victory by scoring 14 of her total 20 points during the second half. The No. 23-ranked Bluejays managed to come from behind in the fourth quarter, defeating St. John’s with a final score of 65-62.

St. John’s Red Storm (14-12 overall, 4-11 in Big East play) maintained control of the game for nearly 30 minutes, heading into the final quarter with a 51-46 lead. However, the Bluejays (22-4 overall, 14-1 in conference) demonstrated resilience, marking their sixth consecutive victory and securing a top-two seed for the upcoming conference tournament.

The turning point came when Lauren Jensen successfully landed a 3-pointer, putting Creighton ahead 61-60 with 3:41 still on the clock. Following Jensen’s basket, both teams experienced a scoring drought until she drove to the basket for a layup in the last half-minute of the game. Jayme Horan then contributed with two crucial free throws to add to Creighton’s lead.

With only 11 seconds remaining, Jailah Donald managed to score, narrowing the gap to three points. St. John’s had a chance to close in further after Creighton’s Kiani Lockett missed two free throws. Nevertheless, Donald’s attempt at a 3-pointer to tie the game fell short.

Jensen’s performance was pivotal, finishing with 16 points, while Molly Mogensen added 11 points for the Bluejays. On the other hand, Lashae Dwyer led St. John’s with 18 points, supported by Kylie Lavelle with 14 points, and Donald and Skye Owen, who scored 12 and 10 points, respectively. The overall contest remained closely contested, with neither team able to stretch their lead beyond six points.
