
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. — On Wednesday night, Paige Bueckers demonstrated her exceptional talent by scoring 23 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and providing five assists, leading the No. 5 UConn team to a commanding 91-49 win over Seton Hall. This victory marks the Huskies’ 41st consecutive triumph over the Pirates, with their last defeat dating back to January 5, 1994.
Bueckers, who has reached at least 20 points in 14 games this season, surpassed the legendary Diana Taurasi to secure her spot in ninth place on UConn’s all-time scoring list, bringing her total to 2,166 points. Alongside Bueckers, Kaitlyn Chen and Aubrey Griffin each contributed 15 points to the Huskies’ victory, while Ashlynn Shade added 14 points and Sarah Strong chipped in with 10. UConn improved their record to 25-3 overall and remains unbeaten in Big East play at 15-0, marking their fourth consecutive win since a close loss to Tennessee on February 6.
For Seton Hall, Yaya Lops led the team with 15 points, and both Jada Eads and Faith Masonius followed with 12 points each. Throughout the match, Seton Hall struggled to keep pace, although they managed to narrow the score to 26-22 at one point. However, UConn responded strongly, launching a decisive 15-4 run in the final minutes of the first half to create a substantial lead of 41-26 by halftime.
In the game’s critical moments, UConn turned the tide following a 10-point deadlock by scoring 12 consecutive points within a mere 98 seconds, establishing a lead they maintained for the entire game. Throughout her career, Bueckers has reached double figures in scoring 100 times out of 111 games played, highlighting her consistent performance.
