VCU defeats UMass with a score of 80-51

On Wednesday night, VCU dominated UMass with an impressive score of 80-51, led by strong performances from Joe Bamisile and Max Shulga, who each contributed 19 points to the victory.

Bamisile also secured six rebounds, helping the Rams improve their record to 21 wins and 5 losses, with an Atlantic 10 Conference standing of 11 wins and 2 losses. Shulga showcased his shooting skills, connecting on 5 out of 6 attempts from beyond the arc, and maintained an unblemished record at the free-throw line, finishing 4 for 4. In addition to his scoring, he contributed five rebounds and dished out seven assists during the game. Another standout for VCU was Jack Clark, who added 17 points, shooting 6 for 9 overall and 5 for 6 from three-point range.

On the other side, Daniel Rivera was the leading scorer for UMass (11-16, 6-8), finishing with 15 points. Rahsool Diggins also assisted the effort by scoring 10 points.

The Rams were in control throughout the game, heading into halftime with a commanding 46-22 lead, with Shulga already accounting for 14 points at that point. In the second half, VCU continued to extend its lead, reaching a high of 72-43, which was bolstered by a quick 7-0 run. Bamisile was particularly effective in the latter half, scoring 13 of his total points during that period.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to play again on Saturday, with VCU preparing to host George Mason, while UMass will be on the road to challenge George Washington.
