SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Arizona Diamondbacks announced on Monday that they have signed right-handed relief pitcher Kendall Graveman to a one-year contract worth $1.35 million.
The 34-year-old Graveman is expected to strengthen the bullpen for the D-backs and may vie for the role of closer. He was sidelined for the previous season after undergoing surgery in January 2024 to repair a labrum injury in his right shoulder.
Since transitioning to a full-time relief pitcher in 2021, Graveman has recorded an impressive 2.74 earned run average (ERA) and achieved 193 strikeouts across 187 1/3 innings pitched.
Graveman made his Major League Baseball debut with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2014, and his career includes stints with the Oakland Athletics, Chicago White Sox, Seattle Mariners, and Houston Astros.
Previously, he pitched for both the White Sox and Astros during the 2023 season, finishing with a solid 3.12 ERA over 68 games. Across nine seasons in MLB, he holds a record of 37 wins and 43 losses, accompanied by a 3.95 ERA and a total of 24 saves.
