PORTLAND, Ore. — In an exciting game on Saturday night, Max Mackinnon led the way for the Portland Pilots, scoring 29 points in their 89-78 win against Loyola Marymount.
Mackinnon also contributed eight rebounds to the team’s overall performance. Vukasin Masic made a significant impact as well, adding 21 points and securing nine rebounds, while Chris Austin scored 17 points, shooting an impressive 7 of 11 from the field and going a perfect 3 for 3 from the free-throw line.
For the Lions, Caleb Stone-Carrawell was the top scorer, finishing the game with 18 points. Will Johnston contributed 17 points of his own, and Jevon Porter rounded out the team’s efforts with 16 points, six rebounds, and two steals.
The Pilots started strong, establishing a 21-11 lead in the first half fueled by an impressive 16-2 scoring run. With Masic scoring 10 points in the first half, Portland maintained a narrow advantage, heading into halftime with a lead of 32-31. Almost four minutes into the second half, Mackinnon’s layup marked the moment when Portland took command of the game for good, pushing ahead to a 40-38 advantage.
Looking ahead, the Portland Pilots will face off against Saint Mary’s in an away game on Wednesday, while Loyola Marymount is set to play against Santa Clara on Thursday.
