LIV Golf has firmly established its presence in Australia, having confirmed that Adelaide will be the location for its tournament until 2031. This decision comes at a time when discussions about a potential reconsolidation between the PGA and LIV tours are gaining traction, highlighting LIV’s determination to maintain its position in the competitive golf landscape.
The announcement made on Sunday emphasizes LIV’s commitment to being a significant player in global golf, despite the evolving conversations surrounding the future of the sport, which included a recent meeting between PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and former President Donald Trump.
Scott O’Neil, the newly appointed CEO of LIV Golf, expressed enthusiasm for their continued presence in Adelaide during the final round at The Grange Golf Club—the most successful venue in the organization’s short existence thus far. O’Neil remarked, “There’s no place we’d rather be than right here in Adelaide.”
Initially, Adelaide’s contract with LIV Golf was set to conclude following its fourth event in 2026. However, the impressive attendance figures, with around 100,000 fans each year for the last two events, motivated the South Australian state government to seek an extension.
In addition, officials revealed plans to relocate the tournament from The Grange to a newly renovated city course that will be designed by Greg Norman, the former LIV Golf chief who played a pivotal role in the establishment of the tour.
Norman, an influential figure in the golf community, expressed his excitement about the project, saying, “As a golf course designer, you very seldom get the opportunity to be involved with a project downtown. North Adelaide Golf Club is basically a diamond in the rough and we’re going to unpick it.”
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas has confirmed that the updated course will be ready to host the prestigious tournament through 2031, representing a significant development in the ongoing evolution of golfing opportunities in the region.
