Emma Calvert delivered an impressive performance with 19 points and seven rebounds, guiding BYU to a narrow 68-64 victory against Oklahoma State, ranked No. 20, on Saturday.
Calvert’s crucial layup at the 2:25 mark pushed BYU ahead 62-60, allowing the Cougars to maintain the lead for the remainder of the game.

Oklahoma State initially took the advantage when Anna Gret Asi sank a 3-pointer, making it 58-53 with just 5:49 left on the clock. However, the Cowgirls struggled to find the basket afterward, not scoring again until Micah Gray hit a 3-pointer to bring the score to 64-63 with only 18 seconds left. Both Calvert and Delaney Gibb contributed to sealing the game, each going perfect from the foul line with two shots apiece.

Calvert exhibited accuracy from the field, shooting 8-of-13, while Gibb added a commendable 14 points, alongside seven rebounds and six assists. BYU finished their shooting performance with a commendable 50% accuracy, hitting 24 of their 48 shots. They also struggled a bit from beyond the arc, making 32% (6 of 19) of their 3-point attempts.

On the opposing side, Oklahoma State’s Asi and Tenin Magassa contributed 13 points each. The Cowgirls had come into the match with a strong performance streak, having won two consecutive games and six of their last seven, now sitting at 20-5 overall and 10-4 in Big 12 play.

In the first half, BYU managed to close the gap, scoring the last six points of the second quarter and tying the game at 31-all. Calvert led all scorers for the Cougars in the first half with nine points. For Oklahoma State, Alexia Smith and Jadyn Wooten each scored six points, though the team faced challenges, shooting only 32% (11 of 34) in the first half compared to 52% (12 of 23) in the second half.

Looking ahead, Oklahoma State will travel to Salt Lake City to take on Utah on Tuesday. Meanwhile, BYU is set for a road game against Arizona on Wednesday.
