Jones scores 27 as Lindenwood defeats Southern Indiana 81-78 in overtime

    SAINT CHARLES, Mo. — A stellar performance by Jadis Jones, who scored 27 points, led Lindenwood to an overtime victory over Southern Indiana, finishing the game 81-78 on Saturday night.

    Jones contributed significantly, also grabbing seven rebounds for the Lions, who now hold a record of 13 wins and 14 losses, including 8 wins and 8 losses in the Ohio Valley Conference. Additionally, Markeith Browning II added 14 points to the scoreboard, shooting 6 of 15 from the field and making two 3-pointers. Reggie Bass also scored 14 points, shooting 4 for 11 overall and a perfect 4 of 4 from the free-throw line, alongside two successful 3-point shots.

    The pivotal moment came just 49 seconds into overtime when Jones calmly sank two free throws, establishing a lead that Lindenwood maintained until the final buzzer. In a thrilling conclusion to regulation, Bass executed a crucial 3-pointer with just five seconds left, leveling the score at 73-all. Southern Indiana’s Jayland Randall had one last chance to win the match with a potential winning 3-point shot, but it did not find the mark, resulting in an overtime period.

    On the other side, Stephen Olowoniyi led the Screaming Eagles with an impressive display, scoring 22 points, securing 13 rebounds, and also contributing on the defensive end with two steals and three blocks. Jayland Randall chipped in with 19 points and two steals, while Jack Campion rounded out the scoring with 17 points and eight assists. This defeat marks the sixth consecutive loss for Southern Indiana, a challenging stretch for the team.

    Both teams are set to take the court again on Thursday. Lindenwood is slated to visit Little Rock, while Southern Indiana will host Eastern Illinois in hopes of breaking their losing streak.
