PORTLAND, Ore. — In an impressive performance, Austin Rapp led the way with 24 points as the Portland Pilots triumphed over the Oregon State Beavers with a final score of 84-72 on Thursday night.
Rapp displayed an excellent shooting percentage, going 9 for 15, including a solid 5 for 11 from three-point range for the Pilots, who now have a record of 9-17 with a 4-9 standing in the West Coast Conference. Alongside him, Max Mackinnon contributed significantly with 17 points, complemented by five rebounds and six assists. Chris Austin also had a noteworthy performance, scoring 14 points with a shooting line of 5 of 12 from the field and 4 of 5 from the charity stripe.
The Beavers, boasting a record of 17-9 and 7-6 in conference play, were spearheaded by Michael Rataj, who tallied 22 points along with three steals. Parsa Fallah supported the effort with 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Nate Kingz added 11 points to the mix.
Portland seized the lead with just 10 seconds left in the first half and maintained it throughout the remainder of the game. Rapp was instrumental in this lead, scoring nine points in the first half, contributing to a 42-38 advantage at halftime. In the ensuing second half, Portland outscored Oregon State by eight points, with Rapp netting 15 points to secure the win for the Pilots.
