ATLANTA – In an impressive showing, Cesare Edwards scored 29 points to lead Georgia State to a significant victory over Old Dominion, finishing with a score of 97-75 on Thursday night.
Edwards not only excelled offensively but also contributed defensively, grabbing 11 rebounds and blocking four shots for the Panthers, who improved their record to 11-15 overall and 6-7 in the Sun Belt Conference. Toneari Lane was also a key player, making seven of his nine three-point attempts to add 21 points to the scoreboard. Additionally, Zarigue Nutter contributed with 18 points, shooting 8 of 13 from the field, but struggled at the free-throw line, converting only 2 of 6 attempts.
For Old Dominion, the Monarchs, who now hold a record of 11-15 and 7-6 in the conference, were led by Sean Durugordon, who scored 21 points and secured seven rebounds. Caelum Swanton-Rodger also had a notable game, adding 16 points along with seven rebounds of his own. Jaden Johnson chipped in with 12 points as well.
Looking ahead, both teams will be back in action on Saturday. Georgia State will welcome Appalachian State to their court, while Old Dominion will hit the road to face Georgia Southern.
