HAMPTON, Va. — In an exciting matchup on Thursday night, Hampton secured a close victory over Drexel, winning 63-58, thanks in large part to the performances of Kyrese Mullen and Noah Farrakhan, who both tallied 18 points.

Mullen’s impact was felt beyond just scoring, as he recorded a solid double-double with 12 rebounds and also dished out five assists for the Pirates, who improved their record to 13-13 overall and 5-8 in the Coastal Athletic Association. Farrakhan showcased his shooting prowess, finishing the game with an impressive 9-for-15 from the field.

For the Dragons, who matched the Pirates’ overall record with a 13-13 standing and an identical 5-8 in the conference, Yame Butler and Shane Blakeney were the leading scorers with 11 points each, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win.

In the first half, Mullen was particularly effective, scoring 12 points and helping Hampton to a narrow 27-26 lead by halftime.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to the court on Saturday, with Hampton hosting Hofstra and Drexel set to face William & Mary on the road.
