PITTSBURGH — In a strong performance, Tre Dinkins contributed 12 points to help Duquesne secure a 69-56 victory over Loyola Chicago on Saturday night.
Dinkins was 4 for 10 shooting from the field, making 1 out of 5 attempts from beyond the arc, and he converted 3 out of 5 free throw attempts. The Dukes improved their record to 10-14, with a 5-6 standing in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Cam Crawford also made a notable contribution with 11 points, shooting 5 of 11 overall and 1 for 3 from 3-point range. Additionally, David Dixon scored 10 points with an impressive nine rebounds, completing an overall solid effort for the team and breaking a five-game losing streak.
On the other side, Des Watson was the top performer for the Ramblers, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Sheldon Edwards supported the scoring with 11 points, while Miles Rubin added 10 points along with three blocks.
The game shifted in favor of Duquesne when they executed an 11-0 run, establishing a 17-11 lead in the first half. Dinkins played a crucial role, scoring eight points before halftime to help the Dukes enter the break with a 34-27 advantage. After Crawford’s layup put Duquesne ahead for the final time with 11:21 left in the second half, the Dukes maintained their lead by outpacing Loyola Chicago by six points in the period.
