ST. LOUIS — The Edmonton Oilers secured a thrilling 3-2 victory against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night, with Connor Brown scoring the decisive goal in overtime just 2:33 into the period. This win marks the Oilers’ fourth victory in their last six matchups. Connor McDavid had a standout performance, contributing one goal and two assists, while Leon Draisaitl added a goal and an assist to the team’s tally. Goaltender Stuart Skinner made key saves, stopping 20 pucks throughout the contest.

The Blues had goals from Jordan Kyrou and Colton Parayko, while Jordan Binnington made 35 saves, but the team ultimately fell short, losing for the fifth time in their last six games. During the overtime period, Brown capitalized on a perfect setup from McDavid, scoring with a one-timer to secure the victory for the Oilers.

The match began with McDavid opening the scoring on a power play goal at 5:50 in the second period, giving Edmonton an early lead of 1-0. However, the tide turned in the third period when Kyrou netted a power play goal at 5:12, leveling the score. Parayko then put St. Louis ahead at 8:58. As time was winding down, Draisaitl managed to tie the game at 2-2 with just 2:14 remaining, as the Oilers pulled Skinner for an extra attacker.

In noteworthy moments from the game, Oilers forward Kasperi Kapanen played his 500th career match against his former team, and defenseman Mattias Ekholm made his return after missing a game due to illness. Kapanen previously played 106 games with the Blues before being picked up by the Oilers off waivers on November 19.

On the other hand, St. Louis welcomed defenseman Nick Leddy back from injured reserve, who had been out for the last 49 games due to a lower body injury. His return strengthened the team’s defense, which has a remarkable combined experience of over 4,500 games.

A pivotal moment in the game occurred when the Blues had a chance to even things up in the second period when Jake Neighbours went on a breakaway. However, Skinner showcased his skills with a crucial stick save, denying Neighbours and preserving the Oilers’ lead at that time.

McDavid continued to shine, extending his points streak against St. Louis to seven games. He has recorded at least one point in 10 of his last 11 meetings with the Blues, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists during that span.

Looking ahead, the Oilers will face the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday, while the Blues are set to host the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
