PHILADELPHIA — In an impressive display of skill, Nick Townsend scored 23 points during Yale’s commanding 90-61 victory over Pennsylvania on Saturday evening.
Townsend further contributed to the Bulldogs’ success by grabbing nine rebounds, helping his team improve their season record to 13-6 and their conference record to an unbeaten 6-0 in the Ivy League. John Poulakidas also had a strong performance, finishing the game with 21 points, hitting 5 of 10 shots from the field, including 2 out of 5 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 9 for 9 from the free-throw line. Bez Mbeng brought in 19 points, successfully making 7 of 14 attempts overall, including 3 of 4 from three-point range, and shooting 2 for 3 from the charity stripe. This victory marks the Bulldogs’ seventh consecutive win.
On the other side of the court, the Quakers (6-13, 2-4) found their offensive leader in Ethan Roberts, who scored 19 points. Sam Brown contributed 13 points to the effort, while AJ Levine chipped in with nine points along with two steals.
Looking ahead, Yale will face Cornell on the road next Saturday, while Pennsylvania will host Princeton on Friday.
