EDINBURG, Texas — In an exciting matchup, Dekedran Thorn led UT Rio Grande Valley to an 83-73 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday evening, scoring a total of 21 points.
Thorn also showcased his defensive skills with five steals, contributing significantly to the Vaqueros’ performance.
Other notable contributions came from Howard Fleming Jr., who scored 17 points and recorded six rebounds, while Marshal Destremau was perfect from the field, hitting all six of his attempts and adding 16 points, including two out of four free throws.
For the Islanders, Garry Clark put together a strong game, finishing with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists.
Owen Dease also had a solid outing with 15 points and six rebounds, alongside Isaac Williams, who contributed 13 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Looking ahead, both teams are gearing up for their next contests on Monday.
UT Rio Grande Valley is set to face Northwestern State, while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will travel to take on East Texas A&M.
