DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Tre Thomas played a pivotal role in Bethune-Cookman’s 67-64 victory against Alabama State on Saturday evening, scoring 19 points in the process.

In addition to his scoring, Thomas secured 10 rebounds, contributing significantly to his team’s effort. The Wildcats improved to 8-13 overall, with a conference record now standing at 5-3 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Daniel Rouzan supported the team with 17 points, hitting 7 of 11 from the field, while also converting 3 of 6 from the free-throw line and grabbing eight rebounds. David Onanina also made a notable impact, going 6 of 7 from the field and finishing with 14 points, along with a couple of rebounds.

For the Hornets, CJ Hines led the way with 19 points as well as two steals, but faced disappointment as he missed a potential game-winning three-pointer with just three seconds left on the clock. Alabama State, now with a record of 8-13 and 4-4 in the conference, also saw D’ante Bass contribute with 11 points while Antonio Madlock added nine points to go with seven rebounds and four assists.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Monday. Bethune-Cookman will host Alabama A&M, while Alabama State will travel to play against Florida A&M.
