LEXINGTON, Ky. — Georgia Amoore played a significant role in Kentucky’s 65-56 victory over Alabama, contributing eight of her 16 points during the pivotal third quarter. Clara Strack delivered a standout performance with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, marking her 10th career double-double. The Wildcats are now 18-2 with a 7-1 record in the Southeastern Conference, having clinched 11 wins in their last 12 outings.
Amoore’s shooting stats included making 6 of 16 attempts from the field and two 3-pointers, accompanied by nine assists. In addition, teammates Amelia Hassett and Dazia Lawrence scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, further bolstering the team’s performance.
For Alabama, Sarah Ashlee Barker shone with a game-high 22 points, completing 8 of 18 shots. Zaay Green supported the effort with 14 points as well. Despite making a solid start by establishing a 21-15 lead in the first quarter, Alabama fell behind when Kentucky surged ahead, outscoring them 19-9 in the second quarter to take a 34-30 lead at halftime.
The third quarter saw Kentucky elevate their lead, thanks to Amoore’s timely 3-pointer that fueled a 9-2 run, ending the period with a 52-40 advantage. The Wildcats extended their lead to as much as 63-46 with just 5:44 remaining in the game.
Looking ahead, Kentucky is set to face No. 13 Oklahoma on Sunday, while Alabama, having faced challenges lately with losses in three of their last four matchups, will host Georgia on the same day.
