BOSTON – Ta’Niya Latson and Makayla Timpson each scored 21 points on Thursday night, leading No. 25 Florida State to a commanding 104-80 victory over Boston College. This win marks the Seminoles’ fourth consecutive win.
Latson contributed significantly with eight rebounds and seven assists, while Timpson boasted an impressive shooting performance, going 9-of-10 from the field alongside 11 rebounds and three blocks. Additionally, O’Mariah Gordon chipped in 13 points, and Malea Williams added 10 for Florida State, who are now 17-4 overall and 7-2 in the ACC.
On the other side, Teya Sidberry shined for Boston College, scoring a season-high 28 points and collecting 10 rebounds. Teammates T’yana Todd and Tatum Green also made notable contributions with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Todd sparked a momentous 12-2 run early in the second quarter with a three-point play followed by a 3-pointer, giving Boston College its first lead at 28-27. However, Timpson quickly responded, scoring in the lane just 20 seconds later, and FSU would not relinquish the lead again.
Florida State strengthened their position with an impressive burst of offense, as Williams scored eight points in a 17-4 run, extending the lead to 47-34 with just over a minute left in the first half. Following that, a quick 9-1 spurt at the beginning of the third quarter solidified the Seminoles’ lead, pushing it into double digits and keeping it there.
Boston College is currently facing difficulties, having lost three straight games. In terms of performance metrics, Florida State shot 51% from the field (40 of 79), and made ten shots from beyond the arc. They also dominated in second-chance scoring, outpacing Boston College 25-8.
This victory for Florida State marks their sixth time surpassing the 100-point mark this season and the second in ACC play. The Seminoles will next compete at home against Wake Forest on Sunday, while Boston College will host Clemson on the same day.
