Creighton defeats Xavier with a score of 86-77

OMAHA, Neb. — In an impressive display on Wednesday night, Ryan Kalkbrenner led the Creighton Bluejays to a thrilling 86-77 victory over the Xavier Musketeers, marking their sixth consecutive win.

Kalkbrenner had a standout performance, contributing 29 points and securing nine rebounds throughout the game. The Bluejays improved their record to 15-6 overall and 8-2 in the Big East Conference. Teammate Neal Jamiya also made a significant impact, scoring 16 points while adding six rebounds and six assists to the tally. Steven Ashworth chipped in with 15 points, shooting efficiently while going 3 for 11 from the field, including hitting three of his seven attempts from beyond the arc, and going a perfect 6 for 6 from the free-throw line. He also recorded five rebounds and eight assists.

For the Musketeers, Ryan Conwell was the leading scorer, finishing the night with 20 points. Zach Freemantle contributed 16 points along with six rebounds, while John Hugley added 13 points and six rebounds to the effort.

At halftime, Creighton maintained a narrow lead over Xavier, leading 40-35 with Kalkbrenner having scored 13 points by the break.

Looking ahead, Creighton is set to face Villanova in an away game on Saturday, while Xavier will host Georgetown on Tuesday.
