For Oklahoma State, reserve player Marchelus Avery had a standout performance, scoring 22 points while shooting 7 for 8. Bryce Thompson was the only starter to reach double digits, finishing with 11 points. Kansas State got off to a quick start, establishing an early 10-0 lead and extending it to 15-4 with 15 minutes left in the first half. Despite an effort from Oklahoma State’s Avery and Thompson to trim the deficit to 25-18 at 9:39 before halftime, McDaniel responded effectively with a three-pointer and a layup to push the lead back to 12 points. The Wildcats maintained a two-digit lead for the remainder of the contest, going into halftime with a comfortable 45-23 advantage.
This victory marks Kansas State’s second-largest win margin of the season, following a previous game on December 1, where they outperformed Arkansas-Pine Bluff 120-73 at home.
Oklahoma State faces a challenging road ahead as they have now lost three consecutive games and five out of their last six. They will be looking to turn things around in their upcoming matchup against Utah on Saturday. Meanwhile, Kansas State, having secured back-to-back wins after a six-game losing streak, will be heading to Iowa State to clash with the third-ranked team on Saturday.
