OREM, Utah — In an exciting matchup on Saturday night, Utah Valley achieved a solid victory over Utah Tech with a score of 96-80, thanks in large part to Tanner Toolson, who scored 18 points.
Toolson also contributed five rebounds to the Wolverines’ performance, who now hold a record of 13 wins and 6 losses, and remain undefeated at 5-0 in the Western Athletic Conference.
Dominick Nelson was instrumental as well, making 5 of his 9 attempts from the field and converting 4 of 6 free throws for a total of 15 points. Trevan Leonhardt had an impressive outing as well, shooting 4 of 6 with a remarkable 3 for 4 from beyond the arc, in addition to making 3 out of 4 free throws, totaling 14 points and also recording three steals. This game marked the Wolverines’ eighth consecutive win.
On the other hand, the Trailblazers, now at 6-13 overall and 2-2 in the conference, saw Noa Gonsalves lead their scoring with 18 points and two steals. Beon Riley also played a key role, contributing 16 points along with three steals, while Hakim Byrd registered 14 points and distributed five assists throughout the game.
Looking ahead, Utah Valley is set to face Cal Baptist on the road this Thursday, while Utah Tech will be hosting Grand Canyon on Saturday.
